August Favorites

POOF - just like that, we’re into September. While the days still feel summer-y, I’m excited just thinking about the cooler days, crisper nights, and cozy sweaters right around the corner. It was tough to make picks for August because the month felt like it spun by in an instant - but enjoy the collection below and comment some of your favorite things in the comment section (I’m always looking for new snack ideas!).

Favorite Podcast: Oprah’s Super Soul Sundays

I know it may sound a little cheesy, but I love how fun these are and I often get a ton out of them as well. The most recent episode I’ve enjoyed the most was with Deepak Chopra about spiritual solutions - it was incredibly interesting and the hour flew by.

Criminal is another one I enjoy and one that my kids have an interest in too. Anytime we drive in the car, we download those and listen to them together (choose carefully with kids on this one, some of the episodes are more kid-friendly than others). Asha (who is 13) loves them!

Favorite Music: The Avett Brothers

I have loved The Avett Brothers for a long time and I’ve been replaying a lot of my favorite Avett Brother’s songs lately.

The Sun Valley Museum of Art has reinforced my love for so many bands. Getting to take photos of the band was an absolute blast - and relisting to the songs brings me back to those moments instantly. I don’t think I can pick a favorite song because I love so many of them! But - “I and Love and You”, “Salvation Song”, and “Laundry Room” are probably my top 3!

One of the photos from the Avett Brother’s concert - I love finding these gems of my family!

Favorite Snack: Zucchini Bread

We've had a TON of zucchini in the garden - so much so that we’ve been experimenting with new zucchini recipes. Our favorite is the tried and true bread, but I also recommend zucchini sticks and zucchini soup!

Favorite Movie: The Help

I watched this one with the girls recently. It's a great super funny and interesting glimpse in what life in the south was like while still being age appropriate for my youngest. It was a good intro lesson for the kids to understand the disparity in the south while still capturing their attention and interest!

Favorite Book: Difficult Conversations

I try to balance my reading list with fiction and non-fiction, light-hearted and heavy, and personal development paired with a good beach read. I’ve been really enjoying this one - I always find a renewed sense of bettering myself as seasons change!
