Reflecting on Parenthood
It's crazy to think that 13 years ever felt like a long time. Remember when you turned 10 years old and thought that was a lifetime of years? Or waiting for your 16th birthday so you could drive on your own? Or waiting for 21 to go out with your friends who were just a bit older?
Now 13 years feels like it whooshed by in an instant. Parenthood seems to go like that - when days are hard they feel long, but then your baby is suddenly 13 years old and you wonder where the time went. They go from being fully reliant on you to having their own full lives. It's both incredibly rewarding and at the same time I wish I could slow things down just a bit and savor these years with my girls just a little bit longer.
This journey of parenthood has its ups and downs, just like everything in life, but it has been the most beautiful and fulfilling path I could have ever dreamed of walking. Asha's 13th birthday weekend was great for us as a family and also a time of wonderful reflection for me. Thank you to Gurmeet, who has been the most incredible partner in this journey of parenthood, and to both of my fantastic daughters for making this life so very sweet.
