SVMoA: Art for All

I love living in such a small and tight knit community. I feel extra lucky because here in the Wood River Valley we get that tight knit feeling, but also have the privilege of world class art, dance, music, and literature right in our backyard.

The thing that I love even more than the incredible amount of cultural experiences we get here, is that the nonprofits leading the charge are committed to making sure the experiences they provide are inclusive to our whole community. I’ve worked with the Sun Valley Museum of Arts for many years now, photographing concerts, classes, the Wine Auction and other events, and I’ve always been impressed with their innovation and ability to pivot to meet the needs of the community.

In March they offered a class on painting with pastels which was taught in Spanish by the talented Raquel Villegas. They have also been hosting classes in Mexican folk dancing, which they just had their final performance for this weekend!

SVMOA also just launched its latest exhibition: “The Mexican Graphic Tradition: Printmaking and the Political.” The museum is filled with gorgeous prints and pieces and at the opening they had a few of the artists come and speak. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, the exhibition will be in the museum until June 8th.
